Tutorial: Configuring Push Notifications

Serverless DatabaseNotifications Configuring Push Notifications

As a developer, you have to activate the appropriate third-party mobile messaging service, get the resulting configuration for it and provision it into the Webcom developer console.

FCM configuration

The FCM activation and configuration is done through the Firebase console:

  • Create a project,
  • Generate a new private key in Project settings / Service account,
  • Download it as a JSON file.

To provision it into the Webcom developer console, go to the "notifications" tab, click the "import config" button to import the previously downloaded JSON file from the Firebase console.

APNs configuration

Webcom actually interacts with APNs through FCM, which provides relay capabilities to APNs. Therefore, the first step is to configure FCM anyway. Then, you simply have to additionally follow this procedure specified by Firebase.

Again, as Webcom actually interacts with FCM, you only have to provision the FCM configuration into the Webcom developer console (see above).

HMS configuration

The HMS activation and configuration is done through the Huawei developer console (also called AppGallery Connect):

  • Create a project,
  • Pick the "Project ID", "App ID" and "App secret" values from the "settings" / "general information" section.

To provision it into the Webcom developer console, go to the "notifications" tab, fill in the corresponding fields with the previously picked values, and click on the "save" button.
